Trip Overview
The 7 Days Rwanda Primates Tour takes you Mountain Gorilla trekking in the stunning Volcanoes National Park located in Ruhengeri District Rwanda, Dian Fossey Tomb which you hike to along Mount Bisoke Volcano and Chimpanzee Tracking at Cyamudongo Forest close to Nyungwe Forest National Park as well as Canopy Walking.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival-Drive to Ruhengeri
Pick up from either Kanombe airport or your hotel in Kigali and with lunch en route, drive to Ruhengeri in the northern Rwanda's Musanze district. This drive will take you through the undulating hills of Rwanda, visit the memorial genocide site at Gisozi and as well go to the two twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo.Reach in the evening and check in at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge[luxury],Lap-lame Hotel[mid range]orKinigi Guest House[budget] for dinner and overnight. Day 2: Gorilla trekking Day
After early morning breakfast,head straight to the volcano national park head offices for briefing about gorilla Trekking Rules then after enter into the rain forest to search for the mountain gorillas . when they are found you will a maximum of 1 hour and then return to the park offices for your gorilla tracking certificate. Return to the hotel for lunch and some relaxation and take a simple nature walk to visit some local communities . Dinner and overnight. Meals plan here is F/B
Day 3: Dian Fossey Hike
After breakfast, you will go to tour the tombs of the great lover of Gorillas (Dian Fossey) an American anthropologist spent years researching and conserving the gorillas before she was killed and is buried there next to Digit, a silver back gorilla. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest
Have breakfast and after drive to Nyungwe forest where you will experience the chimpanzee trekking and the amazing canopy walk to spot various primates. Dinner and overnight at Nyungwe Forest Lodge/Nyungwe Hill Top Lodge/Gisakura Guest House. Meal plan: F/B
Day 5: Chimpanzee Tracking and Nature walk
Wake up very early in the morning and have breakfast and then after go for chimpanzee briefing and thereafter, enter Nyungwe forest in the company of ranger guides in search for colonies of Chimpanzees and many monkey species like Blue Monkeys, red tailed monkeys and grey checked mangabeys, colobus monkeys, plus beautiful forest birds among others. Back to your lodge for lunch, relaxation as preparing for Short Nature walk around the lodge in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at your lodge. Meal plan is F/B
Day 6: Canopy Walk & transfer back to Kigali
Wake up very early in the morning and have your breakfast and go for the canopy walk and afterwards drive to Kigali Dinner and Overnight at mille collines.Meal plan is F/B.
Day 7: Kigali City tour & Departure
Wake up in the morning though not so early and relax a little bit as you prepare for the simple City Tour of kigali to visit the various Genocide Memorials and Shopping Markets . Then depending on your flight time drive to the airport and take your flight back home and kiss bye bye to the country of Thousand hills.
